The Proprietor of the University is Caleb International College, a limited liability company incorporated under Companies and Allied Matters Act 1990. The Proprietor shall appoint the Board of Trustees for the University as constituted in the Law. The Proprietor shall have other functions as provided for in the Law.
Board of Trustees
The Board of Trustees (BOT) is suitably composed and appointed by the Proprietor. The Board have power to-
Arrange for the University endowment, financing strategy and long-range planning;
Conduct visitation to the University, as specified under the Laws of the University
Appoint the Chancellor, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council and its members and determine their terms and conditions of service;
Hold all properties, movable or immovable, of the University in trust;
Make policies that will facilitate and enhance realization of the objects and goals of the University; and consider academic and non-academic annual reports and audited accounts of the University.
The Chancellor is the Formal Head of the University. He attends the University only on special occasions such as the Convocation ceremony for the conferment of degrees.
The Council is the highest policy-making body of the University.It shall have the custody, control and disposition of all property and finances of the University. Council has joint responsibility with Senate in the establishment of any new College, Institute or Department. It has the ultimate responsibility for the appointment and discipline of staff.Members of Council shall be appointed by the Board of Trustees and shall serve a term of three years renewable for a final term of three years. They shall be drawn from the general public to represent a variety of interests, including gender sensitivity. It has five major committees: Education Committee, General Purposes Committee, Personnel Committee, Planning and Resource Allocation Committee, and Research Committee.

The Senate is the highest academic body and the Vice-Chancellor shall be its Chairman. It is responsible for all academic matters of the University, including the provision of courses, the approval of the syllabuses, the organisation and the conduct of teaching and research, the admission and assessment of students, their progress through examination and otherwise. In carrying out these functions, it requires the concurrence of Council to provide the necessary financial and other resources. Senate is the ultimate academic decision-making body. College Boards, Departments/Centres, Boards and its other Committees shall advise Senate in academic matters.
- Approving changes to the University’s statutes and regulations;
- Considering major policy issues submitted by Council or members of Congregation;
- Electing members to Council and other University bodies, and approving the appointment of the Vice-Chancellor
The Congregation of Caleb University is made up of the Assembly of graduate members of staff (teaching and non-teaching). The Vice Chancellor is the Chairman of the Congregation. This body stands as forum for the discussion of any University problem bothering on any issue affecting the welfare and interest of the University, and its meeting Congregation can make recommendation to Council and Senate. The Congregation elects its Secretary.
Convocation is made up of Postgraduate members of staff as well, Postgraduate Alumni of the University. The Chancellor is the Chairman of Convocation while the Registrar is the Secretary. Convocation has the right-to make re-commendation directly to Council on any matter.
According to the University’s Academic Brief and the University’s Law, the Governing Body of the Colleges of Caleb University is the College Board, which is charged with the responsibility of all matters related to academic and related matters.
Membership of a College Board is stipulated by the University’s Law to comprise:
- Dean of the College – Chairman
- Heads of Departments in the College – Member.
- One Representative each of the other Colleges – Member.
- One Representative of each Institute – Member.
- All Academic Staff of the College – Member.
- The University Librarian or his representative – Member.
- The College Officer representing the University Registrar – Member/Secretary
