Summary of Work Experience:
My work experience cut across both research and academic libraries. I served as Book Processing Librarian at Redeemer’s University, Km 46, Lagos/Ibadan expressway, Mowe, Ogun State in 2006, and a Principal Librarian at Igbinedion University, Okada. I acted for the post of University Librarian between October, 2006 and March, 2007 in this institution. Currently, I am the Pioneer Head of Library at Caleb University, Lagos.
I also worked with the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) for 18 years as a Librarian. For 12 years, I was the Reference and Circulation Librarian. I was responsible for the operations and activities of the user’s service section of the library. I designed, maintained and managed responsive book circulation systems and operate reference services to library users. I maintained the on-line Public Catalogue (OPAC) and also monitored its performance. I designed and maintained the library SDI system and trained both the library staff and trainees on the general use of the library facilities and the OPAC. During the first 6 years, I was the Librarian in charge of cataloguing and classification of all library materials. I do subject analysis and indexing of relevant titles which were added to the in-house database and engaged in the training of professional librarians from National Agricultural Research Systems (NARS).
I was part of the Management Team of IITA Library and Documentation Centre between 1991 and 2001, and I acted for the Head of Library whenever the need arose.
I was one of the executive members of the Management Staff Association (MSA) of the institute that consult with Management on the welfare of the Management Staff and other related management issues in the institute.
As the Librarian in charge of users’ services, I interacted with people of diverse cultures in IITA and I worked effectively in this multicultural environment for 18 years.
