The College of Environmental Sciences and Management (COLENSMA) At Caleb University currently runs BSc. MSc. and PhD in Architecture. The college also has approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to run BSc. Building Technology and Estate Management.
The College currently has 420 undergraduate student and 150 Post graduate students out of which 16 are registered for the doctoral programme in Architecture.The university has invested heavily in infrastructure with the proof of an ultramodern college building equipped with the state-of-the-art furniture, fittings and facilities.
The Department of Architecture is blessed with 22 top notch academics on full-time employment of the university. These lecturers were trained in Nigeria and overseas. Our assessment of student’s performance follow prescriptions from NUC and the professional bodies. Prof. E.A Adeyemi, the first professor of Architecture in Africa is an external examiner to our M.Sc. programme in Architecture.
Architecture has full accreditation status from both the NUC and the Architects Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON). This is not a common occurrence in other universities offering the programme. We offer opportunity for direct entry for mature students coming in at both 200 level and 300 level depending on entry qualifications. Over the years, this has stimulated high level competition among the different categories of students resulting in improved quality and performance.
The college has recorded 104 M.Sc. graduates to date and over 400 B.Sc. graduates. The feedback from industry are encouraging. This is validated by glowing reports from leading architectural firms in Lagos such as FMA Architects, Design Group, Interstate Architects and other construction/development companies across the Nation. Our product have also excelled in post-graduate programme abroad.
Industry/University interactions are organized annually and it has attracted industry favorites such as Arc Femi Majekodunmi and Arc. Festus Fawohunre. The faculty are actively involved in research with interests in sustainability studies, Housing, BIM, Urban Design, Environmental controls, design methods and architectural education. The College has collaborations with UNILAG, FUT Akure, UNIJOS and Covenant University .
