The Caleb University’s Priesthood Orchestra last week organised a service of hymns as part of its activities in the institution.
The service hymns themed: “Jesus Our Refuge,” took place at the University’s Multipurpose Hall in Imota, Lagos, on November 13.
It featured a musical rendition by members of the group, a drama presentation, and an orchestra performance by the Head of the Computer Science Department, Dr. Adeniyi Akanni.
Dr. Akanni led the group to perform a song titled: “What A Friend We Have In Jesus,” composed by a Dublin-born artiste, Joseph Scriven.
In his welcome address, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Nosa Owens-Ibie, commended the orchestra group for coming up with the event.
He admonished the gathering to live a life of holiness within and outside the university community.
“Caleb University is a house of God. When you come for a programme such as this, it will make you hungry, activate something that will make you desire to serve God and do His Will all the time,” he stated.
The Senior Pastor of FirstBorn Ministry INC, Ebute, Ikorodu, Kenneth Maxwell, charged the students to continually seek God by living without blemish.
He said: “There is no help elsewhere except through Jesus Christ. The world is full of distractions. A little compromise will stop one from serving God.”
