College of Law
I welcome you on behalf of the staff and students of Caleb University College of Law at Magodo, Lagos, Nigeria, a young but highly subscribed College of Law built on the solid foundation of faith with a view of raising lawyers with character and integrity.
Our mission is simple: We provide an enabling environment for learning and a high-quality, valuable and affordable legal education. Our central focus has been student learning through active engagement of students in interactive learning. This two-way process has helped to improve student performance and a deep understanding of the values of legal education and the character expected of future lawyers within our faith-based learning environment. Students learn how their training can help them professionally and how their preparation to practice law will allow them to positively impact the communities in which they live.
Our vision is noble: We prepare outstanding lawyers and legally trained professionals to serve their local, national, and global communities with excellence, integrity, and professionalism; and through its scholarship and service strives to contribute to the development of the law and a more just society.
The College of Law has designed its programme to ensure that graduates of the programme have an excellent general knowledge of the law, including a clear understanding of its place and importance in society. The programme has the intellectual goal of studying and assessing the contents, operation, efficacy and relevance of various rules of Law in the society as well as giving students the skill of critical analysis and appraisal of social, economic, political and other systems as well as issues of their society in the light of the global systems.
To ensure that our students are prepared to practice effectively upon graduation, we integrate instruction in practical lawyering skills throughout the curriculum and provide a variety of externships, Court attachment and vigorous clinical opportunities. Our law clinics, in partnership with local and regional bodies, serve communities with vulnerable populations that have only limited access to legal representation. We encourage students to become ethical leaders in the legal profession and are encouraged through a self-organizing student body to maintain a deep concern for justice in their communities, regardless of their practice area.
The highly skilled and dynamic faculty at Caleb University College of Law are educated at some of the nation’s most prestigious law schools and such other highly reputable institutions from around the world. They bring a broad range of professional experience to the classroom as committed teachers and scholars of the Law. Our faculty are sought-after speakers and authors contributing to the national dialogue shaping the issues that our society faces through reputable organizations such as the National Bar Association and other sister organizations from around the country, region and beyond!
I recommend you visit us on our campus so you can talk to our faculty, staff, and students and learn more about the unique opportunities available and see first-hand everything that Caleb University College of Law has to offer.
