‘Comedy opens Aso Rock’s doors for me,’ says Ali Baba at Caleb University

The ace comedian, Atunyota Alleluya Akpobome aka Ali Baba on Monday, July 1, 2024, advised Nigerian youths to develop critical thinking skills to reshape their future.

He made the call at a symposium and entrepreneurship exhibition organised by Caleb University’s Centre for Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Imota Lagos.

The two-day workshop themed: “Building The Next Generation of Entrepreneurs: Creativity, Critical Thinking and Innovation,” was designed to prepare the next generation of entrepreneurs that would steer the nation’s ship toward prosperity.

The event featured keynote speeches from industry experts and leaders of thought, a musical performance by the university choir, and panel discussions.

In his address, Ali Baba spoke on the benefits of critical thinking and innovation for entrepreneurs.

The comedian pointed out that with critical thinking young entrepreneurs would be able to question, acknowledge, test previously held assumptions, and make sound decisions.

He recalled that his best experience as a comedian was the unfettered access to the country’s seat of power in Aso Rock.

“My best experience as a comedian is that I have direct access to the country’s presidents right from the time of Chief Olusegun Obasanjo in 1999.

“Through comedy, I met people who ordinarily I should not have met,” Ali Baba told the audience at the packed Multi-purpose hall in the university.

Earlier in his opening remark, the University’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Owens-Ibie, commended the centre’s acting director, Dr. Oluwaseun Folorunsho, for the initiative.

He charged the participants to take advantage of the workshop by learning from industry leaders.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research, Strategy, Innovation and Administration (RISA) at the University, Prof. Olalekan Asikhia, the Registrar, Mayokun Olumeru, Mrs. Hannah Oyebanjo of Redwood Consulting and the Manager of Eledumare Studio, Segun Ajayi, also spoke at the exhibition.
