UTME 2024: Expert Advice for Prospective Candidates by Abimbola Olulesi

A three-member delegation from Education Collaboration, a body of stakeholders in the sector paid a familiarization visit to Caleb University, Imota, Lagos, on Monday, February 24, 2025.
The team, according to a statement issued by the University’s Information, Media and Publication Officer, Mr. Wale Adekoya, was led by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Pan Atlantic University, Prof. Peter Bankole.
Bankole is also the Chairman of the Strategy Committee for West Africa Hub for the Education Collaborative.
Also in the delegation were Ms. Rita Abla Dugberu, the Assistant Director of West Africa Hub for the Education Collaborative and Mrs.Okoye Rosemary, the Administrator of West Africa Hub for the Education Collaborative.
During the visit, the delegation met with University leadership led by the Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sunday Adewale, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research, Innovation, Strategy and Administration), Prof. Olalekan Asikhia, and the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Maria Adeyemi, among others.
The visit was to bridge the gap between academia and industry, and foster a culture of innovation, shared learning, and institutional partnerships.
The session included discussions on education technology, innovation-driven learning, and entrepreneurship to inspire students and faculty to adopt a more collaborative approach to problem-solving.
Indeed, the visit marked the beginning of a fruitful partnership between the two institutions.
In his remark, the Acting Vice-Chancellor said the visit was timely as it would look into the possibility of exchange programmes between Caleb University and Education Collaborative.
“There is no doubt that our Institution is going places,” he stated.
On his part, Bankole a renowned leader in entrepreneurship and education development, stressed the need for collaboration in higher education.
He listed how universities can leverage shared resources, interdisciplinary research, and industry partnerships to enhance learning outcomes.
The Director, Centre for Endowment, Grants, Linkages, and Internalisation, Dr. Ezeanya-Bakpa and her deputy, Dr. Sophia Abiri-Franklin, gave an overview of the university’s academic programmes, research initiatives, and international collaborations.
