The Department of Computer Science on Friday emerged as the overall winner of the 2024 Sports Competition as the maiden sports festival at Caleb University ended in grand style.

Earlier, the Department of Political Science and International Relations won the football competition in the inter-collegiate game held on the university’s football pitch in Imota, Lagos.

The boys defeated their counterparts from the Business Administration Department 2-1 in the epic encounter.

With this feat, the INTERPOL as the team is affectionately called became the first winner of the football competition in the inaugural Vice-Chancellor’s Cup.

The department also won the top prize in women’s football after defeating the Mass Communication Department with a similar scoreline in the final played earlier in the day.

In a novelty match played before the men’s final, a team assembled by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor in charge of Research and Innovation (RISA), Prof. Lekan Olalekan Asikhia, defeated the team of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academics, Prof. Sunday Olumuyiwa Adewale 1-0.

The eight-day competition ended with track and field events, basketball, volleyball, basketball, chess, and scrabble with the Computer Science Department topping the medals table.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Nosa Owens-Ibie, presented the giant trophies to the victorious teams.
