Mass Communication girls stroll past Business Admin rivals as Caleb University VC’s Cup begins
The second edition of Caleb University Vice-Chancellor’s Cup kicked off on Friday with a contest between the female soccer teams of the Department of Mass Communication and their Business Administration counterpart.
After falling short in July, the Mass Communication girls won the one-sided encounter 3-1 to send warning signals to other teams about their intention to win the competition.
The University’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Nosa Owens-Ibie, kicked off the competition with a symbolic penalty kick to the admiration of the cheering at the institution’s sports arena in the Imota area of Lagos.
In the day’s second game, the Department of Architecture defeated the Department of Mass Communication 1-0 in men’s football.
The Oluwole Alagbe boys scored the only goal in the first half of the keenly contested encounter.
The Mass Communication boys came out smoking in the second half in search of the equalizer but the team from the College of Environmental Science and Management (COLENSMA) held firm to bag the first three points in competition.
In the day’s second game, the Department of Business Administration boys pipped their Economics counterpart 3-0.
The weeklong sports fiesta will also feature volleyball, basketball, and athletics, among other events.
