Prof. Olumuyiwa Sunday Adewale

Professor Olumuyiwa Sunday Adewale was born to the family of Prince   — Adewale and Late Mrs. Esther Adewale of Ajikobi compound, Alekuso some decades ago in Ibadan at Ibadan North Local Government Area of Oyo State, Nigeria. He had his primary education at Kosy Bethel Primary School, Ilupeju, Lagos between 1980 and 1986. He proceeded to Ilupeju College ,Ilupeju, Lagos State for his secondary school education between 1986 and 1992. He  also proceed his academy passion to Ladoke  Akintola University of Technology ,Ogbomoso where he bagged a Bachelor Degree, B.Tech(Hons) in Pure and Applied Mathematics in the year 1999.

Prof. Adewale obeyed the clarion call to serve His father land at —State between 2000-2001.He began his working experience at LAUTECH as Administrative Officer, Student Affair’s Unit (2002-2004). The unrelenting Sunday Adewale furthered his Academy pursuit to LAUTECH for his post graduate studies where he obtained Master of Technology (M.Tech.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Applied Mathematics in 2003 and 2008 respectively. He also had his one year post doctoral experience at the University of Manitoba, Canada in 2009

 

As a man of passion for Education Prof. Adewale   later joined the services of LAUTECH as an Assistant Lecturer in 2004, he has held several academic and administrative positions and engaged in community services. Some of these include:  Staff Adviser: Department of Pure and Applied Mathematics Student (2007-2015), Pure and Applied Sciences Student’ Association, LAUTECH (2008-2014), Head of Department of Pure and Applied Mathematics (2014-2017), Member Student advisory committee ,Student Affair’

(2012-2015) ,Investment Secretary, Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU) LAUTECH Branch(2011-2012), Member, Students Displinary Committee (SDC)(2012-2015) and National Vice President, LAUTECH Alumni Association (2008-2010).

Moreover, Prof. Adewale is a recipient of awards including, Federal Government Scholarship Award for post graduate students in 2002, Best Lecturer of  Mathematics (2010), Most Approachable  and Friendly Lecturer (2011) , Honorary Award of Recognition in outstanding performance service to humanity and landmark contribution towards the development and upliftment of LAUTECH and Nigerian Students at large (2012) . Prof. Sunday Adewale  is a member of  four professional bodies, namely Society of industrial and Applied Mathematics USA, National Association of  Mathematical Physics ,Nigerian Mathematical Society and Mathematical Association of Nigeria. Prof. Adewale has participated in several conferencies and workshops in all the six geo- political zones of the country outsides the shores of Nigeria. He has more than forty five publications to his credit and has supervised Seven Ph.D. students, fifteen Master students within and outside LAUTECH.

Permit me to mention that Olumuyiwa Sunday Adewale was promoted to the rank of Professor of Mathematics with effect from October 1, 2016 in LAUTECH. In addition to his promotion, Professor Adewale was appointed as the Dean of Student Affair’s between 2018 and 2019 Chairman board of Survey, LAUTECH between 2019-2022, Ag. Chairman board of Pre-degree science July-August 2022., He also extended his tentacle to Statistics Department to serve as Head of Department between 2019-2022 . He was a member of visitation panel and member of governing council of CALEB university 2019 and 2021 respectively.

The Professor of Mathematics, Olumuyiwa Sunday is happily married and the marriage is colourful with Three (3) glorious children.
