VC harps on harmonious relationship with students

The Vice-Chancellor of Caleb University, Imota, Lagos, Prof. Nosa Owens-Ibie, this week charged the Hall Administrators to ensure harmonious relationships with the students under their care.

Owens-Ibie spoke at the opening of a two-day leadership workshop for Hall Administrators held at the university’s New Cafeteria on Monday, June 3.

The VC, who supported his address with references from the bible, urged the staff to acquire the relevant knowledge and skills required to successfully manage the Halls and other issues within the student population.

Other facilitators at the leadership workshop were Mr. Babatunde Awe, a Senior Assistant Registrar (SAR), and Dr. Fisayo Ogunyemi,  a lecturer in the Department of Mass Communication.

On his part, Awe gave tips for handling difficult students or combating unwarranted behaviour in the Halls of Residence.

He listed the requirements for effective management of difficult students in halls of residence to include, developing positive/appropriate response mechanisms, effective communication, use of complimentary language, good character, and awareness of cultural differences, among others.
